Newark and Sherwood District Council have provided an update regarding the unauthorised development at Moorhouse Lane:

Re: unauthorised development at Moorhouse Lane, Weston

I wanted to update you directly on legal action we have taken in regard to the unauthorised development at Moorhouse Lane, Weston. As you will recall, the Council applied for an injunction to prevent building works or additional caravans/mobile homes being brought onto the site. On 13 March 2026, the Council issued an application at the County Court to ask the court to bring the unauthorised residential use of the Land subject of the claim to an end by ordering the Defendants to cease using the land and remove all caravans within 14 days and to remove all equipment and operational development that changed the use of the land within 28 days.

A hearing has been listed for 13 May 2026 for the application to be considered. Whilst the site currently remains vacant, the Council is acutely aware, that this and the site continues to cause concern and frustration for local residents. The aim of the application is to restore the land to its original condition and seek further injunctive relief to the injunction previously obtained on land at Weston.
